Saphira our project boat

In July of 2010 we watched a boat at a marina sink while still tied to the dock, it took about 7 hours to get it up and out of the water. Al and I found out that the owners took the buy out and the boat was up for auction.  In Sept. 2010 we started the long task of restoring the boat, inside and out. We are thankful that it really didn't end up with much water damage inside, but we did have to dry it out and remove all the mold that was starting to grow, once this was done we were able to start removing parts we didn't want and start the painting.
I started the painting inside and Al and our son John started taking all the fixtures off of the deck, once they finished that they started sanding down the hull of the boat. We've made good progress but have much more to do.
We are hoping to have it finished and ready to sail for the 2011 sailing season. We'll keep you posted on our progress.

Right now we are calling the boat Saphira but could use some help with names

  3. Arrrgghh those thru hull!! I guess no shutoff on that one? OR was the owner not there and no one willing to break in to close it off? oh well. In a lot of ways we will have the same project, so we should talk more about it! :)

  4. If you going to remove the wheel, try and sell it. If you have not been to the grampian sites, check them out.
